I am Associate Professor of Philosophy at Whitworth University. I received my Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame in 2009. I specialize in the theory of knowledge. My recent scholarly work is about such topics as intellectual virtue, civil discourse, and the epistemology of disagreement. My work has appeared in such journals as Philosophy and Phenomenological Research, Philosophical QuarterlyMindSynthese, and Oxford Studies in Philosophy of Religion, as well as in several collections. Along with Robert Garcia, I am editor of Is Goodness without God Good Enough? (Rowman & Littlefield, 2008).

Lately I've been thinking a lot about the role of intellectual virtues (e.g., curiosity, humility, and intellectual perseverance) in education and everyday life. I'm at work on a book on these topics designed for a general audience.
